Welcoming new supporters and paying our respects to our recently departed friends
Chris Smallwood and James Marshall have actively promoted the Foundation and Graeme Stamper joined the Fundraising Committee in 2019.
Their main focus has been to engage more Ambassadors throughout 2plan to support the Foundation in fundraising, regular donations and nominating charities for grants.
2plan have held auctions at their 2019 Summer Ball and National Conferences to support the Foundation. Advisers have also attended the Charity evening at Lord’s, joined the annual Fantasy Football league and bought Foundation branded face masks and neck tubes.
At the start of 2021, James invited the Foundation team to present to 2plan. Over 50 advisers and colleagues attended to hear more about the background, achievements and how they could get involved.
We’ve had fantastic support and now have 48 Ambassadors across the 2plan business. Colleagues and advisers have set up a regular monthly donations, joined the lottery and nominated charities for grants. They have also started planning fundraising events to support the Your Day – Your Way initiative.
We’re delighted to welcome 2plan to the Openwork Foundation family and together know we’ll be able to achieve amazing results for those that need our community on our communities.
If you would like the Foundation Team to present to your team, business or peer group and see how you can get involved, please contact Sam, Debbie or Lisa (see back page for contact details).
2020 created a void in our ability to host events and meet so many of our friends and supporters at our Lord’s charity evening, business events and the annual cycle challenge. The South Africa cycle challenge in October 2019 was last opportunity members from across The Openwork Partnership came together to raise funds improve the lives of others.
Ken Bray was part of the South Africa team; it was his 5th Foundation cycle and Ken completed the very first cycle challenge in 2000.
We were saddened to hear of Ken passing away at the end of last year; he had a larger than life character and would light up the room with his stories. Ken not only raised thousands for the Foundation through the cycle challenges, he always supported our activities including promoting regular giving in his business and supporting the Foundation at all business events.
John Byrne was another key supporter of the Foundation in his own firm and at business events and has also sadly passed away. John was a regular at the Lord’s charity evening and helped shape The Openwork Partnership brand and values last year including WE CARE and support to The Openwork Foundation.
Both Ken and John epitomised the WE CARE values and will be missed by so many. Our continued thoughts are with their families and their teams.
